Feeling tired
Sonata scrolled through the cars until she found one she liked. She selected it and got ready to play. The race was 3 laps. It could really become anyone’s race in that time but Sonata wasn’t going to lose without a fight.
She had loved playing games since she came to Akibaster, and usually carried a 3DS around in her bag in case she found some downtime during the day, but she rarely came out to the arcade because no one would join her. But thanks to Jurina, she may have found a gaming partner.
The text flashed on the screen: 3 LAPS!

Sonata hit the accelerator hard and took off. Ahead of her was Jurina, the little player 2 sign above her head.
“POW!” Sonata cheered as she ran into another racer and sent them spinning out of control. She tried not to laugh to hard and concentrate on driving.
Jurina started the race in her usual fashion, allowing some of the computer-controlled cars to get a head start on her. It was more challenging that way, after all - they hadn’t selected the hardest difficulty either, so she could easily beat the AI cars by a lap or more. What she didn’t expect was for Sonata to immediately attempt to sabotage one of the AI, as she saw a car whizz literally an inch away from her, completely out of control.
‘Well, that’s one way to win,' she thought to herself, giggling as she remembered her first time playing the game. She had also relied on sabotage to win…Though it wasn’t intentional. More like she had no idea what she was doing and sent more cars to their deaths than she actually passed properly.
She waited for the first lap to finish, still trailing behind the main pack, as she watched a few other of the AI cars get wiped off the track - whether accidentally or by Sonata, she didn’t know, though she had a feeling it was the latter.
Jurina grinned and hit the accelerator, passing the pack easily in half a lap despite them having had a long distance on her. Sonata was still nowhere in sight - had she crashed herself too in all the chaos? Jurina shrugged, now already a quarter of the way through the second lap, taking the turns expertly before…
She spotted Sonata in front of her.
A moment of surprise, then a grin. 'This girl’s a natural at gaming!’ She slowed down a bit, letting Sonata gain more of a distance between them before she put on the final burst of speed…And then she heard the 'winner!’ sound from the machine next to her.
“Wow, you’re good at this! Sure you haven’t played this before?” Jurina asked, jokingly prodding Sonata’s cheek.
The crowd was muttering around them.
“Hey, didn’t Jurina not accelerate at all at the start?”
“So she let Sonati win?”
“No way, that’s just how Jurina usually plays.”
“She slowed down near the end too, I saw!”
Jurina shot the crowd a glare, shutting them up. “Now that’s over, what next, Sonati?” she asked, pretending nothing had happened.
