Feeling tired
“Hmmm.” Sonata stood on her toes and looked around the arcade. The crowd followed her eyes to each machine she looked at. It wasn’t that the crowd bothered Sonata, it was just that she was short and they were usually a lot taller then her.
“Oh! That one!” Sonata jumped off the DDR machine and grabbed Jurina’s hand before pushing her way through the crowd to a car racing game. It was super bright, colourful, candy themed and had caught Sonata’s eye.
Sonata jumped in one of the seats and patted the one next to her to invite Jurina to take a seat and race with her.
“Let’s goooo~!”
Jurina laughed as they got to the game and Sonata expectantly patted the seat beside her. She took a seat and breathed in the atmosphere. The crowd was really beginning to gather now, thanks to two AKB0048 idols visiting the arcade - one being the most recent to succeed, the other being a member of that generation of kenkyuusei. But there were others in the crowd too, ones that had seen Jurina before she had even joined 0048 - the ones who knew her expertise around the arcade games. They knew that every time she came to the game centre, the high scores would be in jeopardy.
‘Man, I really should’ve gone to school more,' she thought to herself nonchalantly, glancing at the crowd and seeing some familiar faces, some regular viewers from when she skipped school to spend the day at the arcade. 'But I guess this is nice too. School wouldn’t have helped me get better at dancing like DDR did, would it?’
She grinned and focused back on the racing game that Sonata had chosen. It was a rather simple one, with the usual acceleration and brake pedals underfoot, and the driving wheel. The gear changing mechanism seen on some of the more advanced racing games wasn’t there, and Jurina already knew by experience that this game was easy enough for even a beginner to come first.
Jurina inserted a couple of coins, and pressed some buttons. She grinned as a candy-themed opening song played, and the selection of cars came up - all colourful, bright, and very obviously based off candy.
“Take your pick, Sonata!” she said, automatically scrolling through and selecting the one she usually used on the game. “I heard ya were quite the gamer, so let’s see how you do with this!”
