Getting To Know The Next Generation

“Exhausting, frustrating, tiring, and sometimes makes you want to give up…” Miyuki murmured. “That’s how my aunt described being an idol, the part of being an idol that most people don’t know about. But the end result’s always worth it, isn’t it? If we’re doing it all for the fans, then I think that even if we have to go through a lot of bad times, it will still be fun in the end when we’re up on stage, or at a handshake event, or even just getting a fan letter.”

“As for Tochi, I’m sure she’ll adjust!” Miyuki said brightly, full faith in her friend. “I’m a bit jealous that she succeeded before I did, but hey, Acchan succeeded before you did, right? And you’re still Centre Nova! It just shows that succession ain’t everythin’, ya know?” A bit of the kansai dialect crept into Miyuki’s voice, although she didn’t notice. “An’ ya can be sure that I’ll work my way up! My time’s limited, so I gotta work even harder!”

“Oh? You’re aunt was an idol? Was she part of 00?” Chieri had come around to want to learn more about those she lived with and it looks like that was starting to happen~

“Being an idol is hard. But its worth it. Travelling across the galaxy, singing and dancing, photo shoots, creating a team, meeting fans and being encouraged… Theres so many things we can do, and so much support we can give and receive. Its a job unlike any other.”

“Thats right. Its much like how the centre position in the original groups weren’t everything. Succession is important, of course, but its not the end of the world. You can be a leader, like Kanata is, and maybe, since I’m the first kenkyuusei centre nova, there may even be able to be more than one!”

Chieri smiled. “We both have paths we need to get to. Whats most important is that we both have the drive to get there~!”

“Yeah, she was,” Miyuki said dreamily, eyes looking into the distance as though she wasn’t really in the present. “She was the reason that I began to love 0048. I always told myself that when I grew up, I wanted to be just like her, because she always looked like she was having so much fun on stage.” Her eyes refocused, and she smiled sheepishly. “Well, she graduated as a kenkyuusei without ever succeeding anyone, and that’s kinda why I have the drive to get to the top now. I want to carry on that legacy, y'know?”

“That’s right!” Miyuki said, eyes twinkling. “I don’t have to succeed anyone to reach the top! Although…” She grinned. “Succeeding would be nice though. Like I said, continuing my aunt’s legacy! Although she wanted to succeed Yuko, which I admit was aiming a bit high…” She pumped her fist. “Which is why I’m aiming even higher to be the first successor of Jurina! Yosh!”
