Succession Concert
“A-ah, you’re right! But won’t that bus have left by now…?” She shook her head, grinning. “Doesn’t matter! I can run there if I have to, I have confidence in my stamina at least!” She started stretching, as though she was really serious about it; which, knowing Miyuki, she probably was.“As for the radiance thing…I think you are…In your own way,” Miyuki said, a little absentmindedly with the airheaded expression she got on her face sometimes. It was the look that she got when she struggled to find a way to say something - even though her intelligence wasn’t the highest for a girl her age, she could still say good things at times. “Sometimes…It feels like the room gets a little brighter when you’re in it, y’know? It’s the same with the other successors. I’m not talking about how I light up the room personality-wise, that ain’t really anything special. It’s just high energy and lots of bouncin’ around. But for you, just being there, you kinda gave off this aura…You’re giving it off even now! It’s your radiance, and whether you know it or not, ya got it if that kirara is any indication. It’s not only that though, it’s your heart as an idol.” She placed a hand on her chest, and playfully poked Tochi on the cheek. “Your idol heart developed first out of all of us. I feel that you were chosen because of that. So don’t worry about it, hmm? You might not feel your own radiance all the time, but I’m sure the fans do!”
… ‘Idol heart’, huh? It sounded like some sort of magical girl trait, and to be honest, Tochi wasn’t any more convinced than before, but Miyuki seemed so insistent on there being something that set her apart from the rest of the 78th generation, and that her kirara was connected to it as well, that she was half-inclined to believe her.
After all, didn’t they say that the more absurd something sounded, that the more plausible it was that it was true?
“Um… okay, I guess I get what you mean,” Tochi finally said, trying to sort out Miyuki’s words. She was no Center Nova, but Miyuki seemed to believe that Tochi was radiant regardless, so if Miyuki believed it, then…!
“Well, you don’t have to take my word for it!” Miyuki said, poking her tongue out and hitting herself on the head. “After all, I’m not exactly the brightest cookie! But I think that if you asked your fans, or anyone else who had spent a lot of time with you…They’d say the same. It’s like…What was it that my aunt used to say?”
Miyuki scratched her head, trying to remember. “Something like…‘Laser beam from your eyes!’, meaning that we had to connect with our fans when performing, and meet every single one of their eyes. 'Power from your hands!’…Not quite sure what that means, but maybe related to handshake events? And then 'Aura from your nostrils!’ That last one was the one that most of the members struggled with, I think…They didn’t emanate that idol aura, they didn’t breath it. My aunt was one of those, which is why she never became a successor.” She pointed at Tochi. “The way you did! You’ve definitely got that idol breath!” Ignoring how stupid that may have sounded, she looked up at the clock again, and shrieked.
“Ah, we’re really going to be late if we keep talking!”
