Concert on Retrostar

shimotsukitochi:

They hadn’t even touched down yet, but Tochi was already excited; this would be their first live concert offworld, and the second time the 78th generation had performed on stage, so naturally, Tochi wanted to do her best. Still, she was disappointed about the whole ‘Hashire! Penguin’ thing, no matter how much Paruru tried assuring her that she’d get her chance eventually, that there was always the chance that she would be drafted to perform it next concert, etc etc…

As everyone else started getting ready, Tochi soon ran into a series of problems. The first was that there wasn’t any room for her at the mirrors to put on her makeup, as she had gotten there late enough to where everyone was already crowded around them. Being as short and unintimidating as she was, she couldn’t just shove her way invetween people, either, so…

Clearly, the best option was had been to try getting around them, in the hopes of getting a smallish corner of the mirror to herself. It had earned her some weird looks, and Tochi had nearly avoided the wrath of Myao again, but it server its purpose, and Tochi felt quite triumphant in her success. The next problem though involved her hairclip.

The star-shaped one. That was practically glued to her head with how often she wore it. Technically, she had more than one hairclip, as Tochi collected star-shaped jewelry like it was going out of style, but they all had their specific outfits to be coordinated with, and it would be downright sacrilege to wear another. Frantic, Tochi practically tore apart the dressing room like an idol possessed, Pico Mari the kirara acting as a sort of useless flashlight for the darker areas like under counters or whatnot. Finally, with a frustrated shriek, she turned to the closest person, as if they might know.

“I can’t find it!!” Tochi exclaimed, as if she expected them to know that ‘it’ referred to ‘my hairclip that I actually have a million of’.

Miyuki, naturally being the tallest girl in the room once more as far as she could see, had no problems looking over the heads of the other girls to put on her makeup in the mirror. It wasn’t exactly a hard task for her, due to Miyuki being the type who disliked makeup and tried to put on the bare minimum in order to make the staff happy. Therefore, it took her about all of five minutes to finish up and move aside. She sighed. Being tall had it’s advantages, but she still didn’t like standing out so much. She had had a little growth spurt during her time with 0048, and she towered over the other girls now at almost six feet, which she had an uncomfortable feeling was very unnatural for a girl, no matter how the others tried to tell her that her height was a good thing.

She sat down in the corner of the room, going over the moves to Oogoe Diamond in her head as she hummed the tune. It was the one song she was centre in, and that in itself had her excited beyond measure - it was well known that Jurina had broken out into the spotlight and established herself through Oogoe Diamond, and Miyuki, wanting to succeed Jurina, was determined to do the same. Her concentration was broken by a familiar flicker in the corner of her eye, which turned out to be, as she suspected, Tochi’s kirara. Expectantly, the owner closely followed, as though frantically searching for something. Miyuki smiled to herself - she had noticed Tochi’s efforts in trying to get a place in front of the mirrors to herself. They had been amusing, to say the least. Now that she had finally managed to secure a position, she appeared to have lost something. Miyuki blinked as Tochi turned around and shouted at her.

“W-what can’t you find?” Miyuki asked, half-amused, half-worried about the frantic expression on Tochi’s face.
