Miyukin spots Tochi!
To be honest, she was used to it. Mariel was her older sister’s friend, after all, and Mariel was almost 19. She also tended to associate with some more energetic girls back home, family friends and all.
“It still rains there, though, just like it does here,“ Tochi pointed out, thinking of how it rained during her campout outside the dorms, “It sometimes snows in the higher elevations, too- on the mountains.”
Ugh, why couldn’t everyone stop asking her who she wanted to succeed? Just because all of the other 78th gen girls seemed convinced it was divine prophecy that they’d succeed their chosen member, didn’t mean Tochi had a set name in mind. To be honest… the more everyone talked about how they would definitely succeed who they wanted, and as fast as possible, the more Tochi was starting to think she herself would remain a kenkyuusei forever- perhaps like Kaotan.
“It’s a secret!“ she finally said, shrugging.”
“Of course, of course. But you guys don’t have a weather control system, right? Or well, if you do I didn’t know - planetary study isn’t my strong topic. Never was,” Miyuki said thoughtfully, thinking back to school. “But because of that, all your weather would be natural! With the weather control system here on Akibastar, it means that it rains when they want it to rain, not because mother nature does. I want to feel natural rain!” Miyuki spread her arms emphatically, as though feeling imaginary rain on her skin. “And snow too!”
Miyuki shrugged, deciding not to push the subject. Not everyone was absolutely sure of who they wanted to succeed the way that she was. Most of the the other girls looked up to and aspired to become the successor of several names, sometimes even putting them in the order of who they wanted to succeed. Not Miyuki. For her, there was only one. It wasn’t that she wouldn’t mind succeeding any other name, but she could only see herself truly succeeding that one. “If you say so! Better if it’s a secret, actually,” Miyuki said, winking. “It means I won’t have any idea at the time of your succession until they announce the name!" Just like the current Mariko. Boy, did that one take me by surprise, Miyuki thought.
