Miyuchan spots Chieri!
Miyuki laughed a little, choked through the tears. It must’ve looked weird to a bystander - Miyuki being comforted by Chieri. Especially with Miyuki being taller and older, but she had never acted her age, and was frequently mistaken as younger than she was, despite her height. But Miyuki looked up to Chieri as an idol, and now a senpai, and wasn’t bothered with being comforted by the younger girl.
“M-Miyuchan is fine,” Miyuki said, still stumbling a bit in her speech thanks to the tears. “A-and I wanted to thank you because if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even be here! I was almost going to give up on auditioning for 0048…After all, I’m already 17, and everyone thought that was too old for me to debut as an idol. B-b-but you…Your concert on Akibastar! The one where you become Centre Nova! That helped me…so much…i-in ways you wouldn’t believe. Y-you see, my mother was in a coma…But your radiance, the effect of that concert where both you and Nagisa shone so brightly, it woke her up, even though it was only for a little while! And she told me to chase my dreams, and disregard everything everyone else was saying.“ Her voice had firmed up by now, but the tears were still flowing. “And now I’m here.”
Chieri smiled warmly. She had often thought that when people spoke in third person, as Sonata and now Miyuki did, it was quite cute. She put her hand on the girl’s shoulder as she told her story.
“You’re never too old to give up on your dreams. The original Mariko is proof of that, isn’t she?” As Miyuki told her about her mother and the concert, Chieri started to tear up.
“Honestly, I have no idea what to say… I’ll tell Acchan, though, I’m sure she’ll be so happy. I am too. It’s nice to hear how we affect our fan’s lives, but that… that’s something really special, Miyuki.” She smiled, brighter this time. “And now you’re here, you’ll fulfil you’re dreams, right? I look forward to watching you grow!“
Miyuki hadn’t noticed she had spoken in third person - she didn’t often do it, but she did lapse back into that childhood habit when she became distressed or emotional. She nodded and tried to wipe the tears away as Chieri mentioned the original Mariko. When Miyuki was younger, she always wanted to be the next Mariko, simply because she loved how the original would strive to achieve, day after day, even though she was the oldest in the group at one point, up until she had graduated. However, as she’d grown older, she’d fallen more and more in love with the original Jurina…Nevertheless, she was shocked that she had forgotten about Mariko’s struggles as an older member. She could draw inspiration from that.
Miyuki sniffed and blinked her eyes, clearing away the tears, and wiped away the last stray one. She smiled at Chieri, almost back to the energetic, bubbly girl she always was. "It was special and amazing, for sure. And it’s the reason I’m here. My dream is to shine bright!” Miyuki took a step back, a determined, steely look in her eyes replacing the tears. “Brighter than Acchan! Brighter than you! Brighter than anyone ever in the history of AKB! Because if I can do that…If I can do that, if I can shine enough that I can outdo everyone, that I can surpass even the radiance that you and Acchan showed…I think…No, I’m sure that my mum will wake up for good!” She clenched her hand into a fist, grinning now. “So watch out, because Miyuchan is coming for the top!”
