Miyuki (finally) meets Suzuko!

“They certainly are,” Miyuki replied, giggling. There was quite the world of difference between the current Mariko and Tsubasa-san - though Tsubasa had had that mischievous Mariko air around her when she was the successor, that seemed to have faded off after she graduated. The current Mariko was, in Jurina’s eyes, much too girly to be like Mariko, but she seemed to be carving out her own identity under the name…And hopefully not a sadistic one.

That sadistic side was something that Tsubasa had carried over to the staff position. Jurina shuddered as she remembered the chaotic battle in the kenkyuusei ‘audition’s’ second stage, and the bruises she had got from that.

Miyuki plopped down on the couch and looked at Suzuko thoughtfully. “All the other girls want to succeed, from what I’ve heard,” Miyuki said with a hint of curiosity in her voice. “But you don’t seem to have the same aura or drive as them. What do you want to achieve, Suzuko-san?”

“The differences we all have is what makes 00 so incredible.” Suzuko said, her inner fan was trying to resist going off on a tangent. From successor to successor, even with the same name the way they shined was still unique. Her green eyes were glittering with excitement before Miyuki’s question returned her to earth, or well Akibastar to be more accurate.

“What do I hope to achieve?” She repeated, tilting her head a little bit. After a moment Suzuko smiled softly. It was true, while she did like preforming and doing 00’s other activities, Suzuko’s dream wasn’t on the stage. Though the more she thought about it the more she would like to be a successor, at least for a little while.

“While I do like standing on the stage, where I truly want to be is behind it.” She admitted quietly. “My dream is to become a manager and support the group that gave me confidence.” Suzuko said firmly.

Miyuki was a rather huge 00 fan herself - she also had to hold back on going off on a tangent. Though she didn’t think of herself as on the same level of dedication as Suzuko was, she had plastered the entire interior of her home with posters of successors, past and present, as well as a room where she kept memorabilia of the originals. She also had an entire wall in her living room dedicated to research about the Centre Nova - their routines, their unique dance moves, their singing, how they were them. What was it that made them the Centre Nova?

She blinked as Suzuko spoke, wrenching her out of her thoughts. “So you want to support the group from the back, watching over us huh…” Miyuki said, reflecting on it. “Do you want to be a successor, though?”

Miyuki thought about it. Suzuko was soft-spoken, never really made a fuss, mature and calm, a cool beauty, and she was content supporting the group no matter what position she was. Whether that was Centre Nova, successor, or kenkyuusei…She just wanted the group to succeed.

Miyuki smiled as a name popped into her mind. “I think you’d make a great Matsui Rena successor.”

Valentine’s Day Cooking!

Jurina grinned when Seika said she’d give those to Tomochin. If it was her, Jurina was sure she wouldn’t even taste the bitterness in it…Sometimes, Jurina doubted that Tomochin tasted anything at all.

“Sure!” Jurina said cheerfully, rolling up the sleeves of her sports jersey. She was still sweaty from her morning run, so she had to be extra careful…Or there might be some salty chocolate.

Jurina had lived by herself for almost half her life, so she was pretty confident in her own cooking skills. She didn’t like to brag about it, but having to make her own meals from since she was 10 at least enabled to her to cook at a decent level.

Chocolate was another case altogether, however. She had never made chocolate before.

“Uhh…You might have to teach me how to make them.”

Seika nodded, feeling determined. It wasn’t often that she had to teach someone else, so it was important to do a good job of it! She moved some things around so Jurina could have some more room before explaining.

“Its pretty simple, really! Well, thats because I do it the easy way, haha! Basically, you just mix all this stuff here together and then we put it in the shapes and pop it in the fridge!”

Picking up a somewhat chocolate covered piece of paper, she showed it to the older girl. “Everythings written here!”

Jurina raised an eyebrow at the rather ambiguous explanation by Seika. ‘Mix all this stuff here together?' she thought, giggling internally. It certainly wasn’t an instruction she would be used to seeing in a recipe book, that’s for sure.

She was relieved when Seika appeared to actually have proper instructions, although the paper was rather sticky and gooey thanks to the chocolate on it. She glanced over the recipe, and sighed in relief. It was rather simple - Seika might well have described it fully, ambiguous as it was. It was literally throw everything together and then freeze it into the shape you desired.

She rolled up her sleeves, determined to get it right the first time. “Alright, let’s do this!”

She followed the instructions, adding a little of her own flavour into it by throwing a small amount of peppermint into the mix to give it a refreshing taste…Or so she hoped. She put the mix into the fridge after molding it into shapes, and then sat down and glanced over at Seika, who appeared to be doing the same.

“How long do we wait?”

Miyuki (finally) meets Suzuko!

the77thotaku:

“Of-of course…” Miyuki replied, yet still wondering if Suzuko truly understood her. Suzuko was the ideal height for an idol - not too tall, not too short, cute, had breasts that actually created some sort of cleavage, and had a unique personality that any fan would recognize immediately. What did Miyuki have…? The only thing she’d be picked out for would be her height.

But she was an optimist. And optimists didn’t spend time thinking about depressing things like that. If her friend told her it was alright, it would be alright. And besides, if the upbeat, cheerful and always energetic member of the 78th generation appeared depressed, what kind of impression would that give to others?

She relaxed a bit, and smiled at Suzuko, her true, slightly cheeky grin coming through instead of a forced one. “Thanks, Suzuko. This height thing’s really bugged me a lot my entire life, but I feel like that with 0048, I might just be able to fit in. After all, we’re all rather unique.” She laughed as she said that - it was true that they had some rather…special characters, to say the least.

Suzuko smiled in turn. If she could do anything to support her fellow idols, well then that was time well spent. Whatever happened she wanted to be someone the others could depend on to find courage. A manager’s job was to take care of their idols, and considering one day that was what she aimed to be she would be doing her best whenever she could.

“You’re welcome. ” She said bowing her head politely. Knowing that she’d helped was enough thanks but she appreciated the words still.

She nodded at Miyuki’s statement, chuckling a little.

“You know, I can’t help but feel the same way. Here, being different is what makes you fit in. I don’t think any one of us is the same, even if we suceed the same names. Tsubasa-san and our current Mariko, or Mimori-san, may hold the same name but they’re still different.”

“They certainly are,” Miyuki replied, giggling. There was quite the world of difference between the current Mariko and Tsubasa-san - though Tsubasa had had that mischievous Mariko air around her when she was the successor, that seemed to have faded off after she graduated. Valentine’s Day Cooking!

Jurina suddenly got a faint sense of danger emanating from the other girl, as her mind whispered to her that running away might be a good option right now. She didn’t quite understand why until Seika came back with a batch of chocolates and offered them to her.

‘Looks like I’m going to be the test dummy,' Jurina thought to herself, wincing. If Seika’s chocolate making was anything like her endurance…Well, Jurina steeled her stomach just in case.

Taking a bite of the chocolate and preparing herself for the worst, she chewed for a few seconds slowly with her eyes closed…Then opened them, blinking a couple of times.

“Not bad, Seika! Not bad at all!” Jurina said appreciatively. It was definitely better than what she could’ve made, at least. She looked contemplatively at the batch.

“They could perhaps be a little sweeter, the bitterness of the cocoa is still coming through a bit.”

Seika beamed brightly.”Really!? I’m so happy! Usually, I get Mama to help - so, she just kinda does everything and I just get her utensils and things so I’ve never really made them before!”

She rushed the last bit - she liked to say that she was a somewhat decent cook, and she told all her friends that this was something she did every year, but it was a liiiiiitle bit of a white lie…

Nodding at the feedback, she set about fixing it. “Well, these ones are a bit too strong… Maybe they can be for Tomochin-san? Ahhh but thats like giving her the leftovers!” Shrugging, she smiled. “I’ll just have them for me!!”

“Hey, Jurina, wanna help me make some more?”

Now that Jurina had finally succeeded, it was natural for the spotlight to be on her…Seeing as she was the first to succeed the name. But she was tired of being followed around by the media. Sick and tired of the same questions, over and over again, all the same interviews.

How does it feel being the first to succeed Jurina? It feels great, of course. I’m really honoured.

Does it mean something that you succeeded so quickly? Of course not. I think every girl will succeed if they are meant to, regardless of when they do so. And I think you guys are also forgetting that Karen succeeded much earlier than me.

What do you think your standing among 0048 is now? *laughs* Still fresh off being a kenyuusei, aren’t I? Doesn’t matter who I succeeded, I’m still a junior.

And so on.

By now, Jurina had already memorised all the questions that would be thrown at her with each interview, and the answers she would give. But there was still something that really ticked her off from the interviewers questions.

Why do they talk as though she’s the first of the 78th generation to succeed?

That was just disrespect to Karen, who was her friend. And whoever disrespected her friends…Got a death glare from Jurina as a result.

‘Ah, now that I’ve succeeded…I have to move, don’t I? I wonder who my new roommate will be…’

Spotting Karen gazing intently at a puzzle with a pen in hand, Jurina sidled over to her quietly…And hugged her from behind.

“Surprise!”

As involved in her own thoughts and the puzzle at hand as she was, Tochi hadn’t heard Jurina approach, and was caught offguard by the surprise attack hug. With a small shriek, Tochi dropped the pen in her hand, panicking, before realizing the owner of the voice. Once she realized it was someone she knew, and not an enemy, she relaxed…

… A little bit.

“Ah! Miyu- um… Jurina??” Tochi exclaimed, not quite accustomed to calling Miyuki by her new name yet (Tochi didn’t quite understand the concept of abandoning your old name upon succession and simply thought of ‘Karen’ as her ‘idol persona’).

“When did you get here?”

“You can still call me Miyuki if you want, Tochi-chaaan~” Jurina said, snuggling against her friend. “I’ve been hiding in the shadows for hours now!” she joked. Jurina for one had embraced her new name - although she hadn’t thrown away her old one, she was proud of the fact that she had succeeded the Jurina name, and intended to use it whenever possible. She didn’t just want to be a successor of the original, she wanted to be remembered as an individual Jurina as well.

Well, it made sense in her mind.

Letting go of Tochi and lying her head down on the younger girl’s lap, she looked up at her friend’s face contemplatively. She felt as though they hadn’t had the chance to catch up in ages, ever since Tochi had moved into the successor’s rooms…With Yuko. Jurina felt a twinge of pain on Tochi’s behalf - it was well known that Yuko liked to tease her kouhai, and living in the same room as her, Tochi must have her own set of troubles to deal with.

As for Jurina, she was rather lonely. After having succeeded, she had moved out of the kenkyuusei rooms, and into an empty successor one…Which meant she was yet to get a room-mate. She was aware that Yuka would succeed soon, but she still wanted to share a room with one of her fellow 78th generation friends.

'So what about Tochi?’

The thought ran through her mind, and she smiled brightly up at the other girl from her lap. “Hey, Tochi! Wanna be room-mates again?”

Valentine’s Day Cooking!

Jurina, in her usual way, was thinking of causing some sort of mischief. She felt like in the last few months she had been rather passive…Meaning not playing the pranks she used to. Valentine’s Day was the perfect time to play a few jokes on her friends. What she had in mind was making chocolate…Honmei ones, meant to be given to someone you’re romantically interested in, and then inscribe “I want your body” on them.

If only she knew how to make chocolate…But that wasn’t going to deter her.

Heading to the kitchen, she smelled a sweet smell - was Chef Papa making something sweet? Seeing a girl in the kitchen, she was a bit surprised - not many of the girls woke up earlier than Jurina did thanks to her daily morning runs, but there was someone in the kitchen already making something…Sweet.

“Hiya, Seika,” Jurina said, peeping through the kitchen door at her friend. “Whatcha makin’?”

“Juri-chan!” Seika beamed at the older girl. It was clear she’d been on a run (eh, maybe we can go later) but now, her she was. Apart from having a great time, Seika now had a victim for taste testing!

“I’m making tomo choco for everyone! Here,” putting down the chocolate, she headed to the fridge, getting out some ones that had been cooling for a while. Heading back over to the successor, she held it out, “Say ahhh~!”

Jurina suddenly got a faint sense of danger emanating from the other girl, as her mind whispered to her that running away might be a good option right now. She didn’t quite understand why until Seika came back with a batch of chocolates and offered them to her.

Seika was happily humming in the kitchen, keeping out of Chef Papa’s way (and naturally, making a mess whenever he left). Valetine’s Day was a bit weird, as an idol, as they obviously weren’t allowed to date (not like they’d have time to). But still, she enjoyed chocolate and had decided to make everyone tomo choco. After all, who said you could only celebrate romantic love?

She was just about to start melting her third lot of chocolate when someone came wandering in. “Morning!”

Jurina, in her usual way, was thinking of causing some sort of mischief. She felt like in the last few months she had been rather passive…Meaning not playing the pranks she used to.
