A shock announcement

Jurina looked over the crowd, barely able to hear her own words and not exactly sure what she was saying. She was trying her hardest to hold back her tears and as she looked down through the audience, she could see some already openly crying, and her heart almost broke. But she was doing what had to be done.

Just a moment ago, Jurina had stood up, shellshocked as the announcer had called her name.

“Coming in at 14th in the general elections…Matsui Jurina the 2nd!

She had walked up to the microphone, taken a deep breath, and started talking. None of it was scripted - Jurina hated pre-planning, and she just let things happen.

"Almost a year ago, I applied for AKB0048,” she had begun, smiling her trademark smirk as she talked. But even her more casual fans could see she was forcing it. “I didn’t really think I could get in. I was almost 19 years old at the time I applied. My classmates all said the same things.

‘How do you expect to get in?’

'You’re too old.’

'You’re too boyish.’

'Not cute enough.’

I didn’t have any friends in that class. I always stood out, with my red hair and my freakish height.” She had patted her own head, laughing. “And I’ve grown even taller. It’s not something to brag about, but I broke the 180cm mark a couple of months ago!”

“But standing out was what got me accepted, I think. All my life, I thought it was wrong, that being different was wrong, that what I was dreaming of was wrong, that not being girly enough was wrong. I cursed my life. But 0048 taught me that I was the one who was wrong. The girls here embraced me and accepted me for who I am, and I finally found my family after I had been alone for so, so long. Suzuko encouraged me, telling me that being different was right. Chieri directly challenged me to take her Centre Nova throne when I first joined, pointing out that having an ambitious dream was right. Sae made me feel like a girl, even if I looked like a boy, and taught me that my looks were what made me who I am. Tochi and Seika, I don’t think I could’ve done it without them. They were my best friends, my roommates, my comrades, my family. Sonata-chan was like the little sister I never had. And all the other girls here, they’re all very special to me and will always hold a place in my heart. And for the first time in forever, I felt like my life was blessed.”

The crowd had begun shouting at that point. They knew what was coming, they could feel it. She could feel the stares of the other girls on her back. She hadn’t told anyone, but they knew it too.

She had breathed a deep sigh.

“But sometimes, good things have to come to an end, you know? Even if they’re what makes you happy. Even if they gave you a meaning in life. Even if you don’t want to leave them behind. Sometimes, there are other, more important things. Things like a mother, who was thought to be lost, miraculously recovering from a coma. Things like needing to support your family by being there for them. Things like getting a job, education, actually passing high school the second time round. So because of this…”

“I, Matsui Jurina the Second, am graduating from AKB0048.”

And now back to the present. The crowd was still shouting, some encouragements, other pleas not to leave, some even angrily demanding that she stay. She forged on ahead, tears spilling from her eyes as she tried to maintain her composure.

“I know you’re all probably bored of listening to my long, boring speech, but there’s one more thing I want to say. One very important thing that I want everyone to hear and know.”

She took a deep breath and shouted into the microphone at the top of her lungs.

“Don’t give up on your dreams!”

“Even if people knock you down! Even if people call you ugly, or not cute, or stupid, or too fat, or too skinny, or too ambitious, or a red-haired giant witch. Don’t give up! You dreams are what keep you going! Your dreams are what fuel you! They’re what keep you going on the road to your happiness! The road may wind and turn and bend, but stay on that road! Never leave that road, no matter what obstacles come at you! A roadblock of insults in your way? Drive right through it like it isn’t there! A truck of bad luck in front of you? Be patient, and rush past it when there’s a chance! Missed a turn into a sidestreet of opportunity? Don’t lose hope and keep going! There are plenty more down the road! Even if you reach your happiness and it lasts for such a short time like mine, at least you reach it, right? At least you reached the end of that road, and you got to that final goal - your dream. Some people might never reach this goal in their entire lives because they’ll take detours, stop the car to go sightseeing, get too tired and decide to make a u-turn back. They don’t think such fleeting happiness is worth it. But I’m telling you here, right now, that it is worth it! Once that dream has been achieved, once you’ve reached the end of the goal like I have, once you’re standing where I am, then you’ll see. You’ll see what I’m seeing now, at the end of this road, what I thought was the end of my dream, my happiness.”

She looked up at the crowd, tears glistening on her cheeks as she smiled her widest smile.

“A new road. It looks more uncertain than the previous one I had taken, and I’m hesitant to go on it. But there’s a sign there, telling me that it’s time to move on. I thought that I had my fill of happiness, of achieving my lifelong dream of getting into 0048. I thought I had reached the end of the road. But the sign speaks to me, telling me that there’s more, that there’s more happiness to be obtained, that I can have other dreams, that I can live my life after what I thought was my one shot at happiness. That happiness is unlimited, that it will be there at the end of every road, no matter how much harder it is than the previous ones, no matter how uncertain it looks.”

She raised a hand to the crowd, as though waving farewell.

“So that’s my final message to you, my wonderful fans, and the girls behind me, my beautiful family. Don’t be satisfied just reaching one dream. I said to not give up on your dreams, right? Not to not give up on your dream! Dreams! Plural! Live, love, be happy, and don’t be afraid to take that journey on that uncertain road! Jurina…No, not Jurina anymore. Takahashi Miyuki, thanks you from the bottom of her heart! For everything!”

With that, she lowered her hand and head in a bow, sobbing uncontrollably as the crowd applauded.

//outofjuju: Hey guys! I got a little emotional too writing this - the Miyuki/Jurina inside me is bawling her eyes out right now. The official reason for Jurina leaving is that her mother has recovered from her coma, but is still weak and needs her daughter by her side (if you didn’t pick that up from the long, drawn-out speech by Jurina). Yuko on the other hand, will still be available to be picked up by anyone, as I’m not letting her graduate just yet. The official reason that I'm leaving is a bit more boring than that - it’s simply that I’ve been overwhelmed by schoolwork and I can’t find any time anymore to RP. It’s been so fun getting to know you all, RPing with you guys and your muses, and sharing those little silly moments with Jurina and Yuko. The last 9 months or so (even longer! Almost a year!) have been the first time I’ve ever been part of an RP group, and I’ve had so much fun and learned so much in my time with everyone here. I’ll still lurk a bit on my main acccount if you want to chat at any time, but as for my RP ones I’ll be leaving them indefinitely. Good luck to you all, and have fun RPing!

TL;DR: Jurina graduating, Yuko is available now to be RPed, I’m quitting RPing (…for now).

“I thought they were just chocolate!”

Jurina would offer to take food off anyone’s hands, no matter what the food was. As long as it was edible, Jurina would eat it. She didn’t quite expect what would happen when she ate the chocolates that Yui had given her though. As she had started consuming them, she had begun feeling dizzy - by the end of the box, she was completely intoxicated.

Jurina wasn’t a light drinker by any standard - she could certainly hold her own. But the stuff in the chocolate was strong.

“Eh~? Whatcha on about?” Jurina asked, slurring her words as she leaned against Yui. As always when she was drunk, agitated or excited, her Osaka accent had begun to come out as well, adding an extra dimension of comedy to the situation.

“I’m perfecsh as a fiddle!” Jurina said, trying to stand by her own but promptly tripping over, then beginning to laugh at mid air as she pointed at something only she could see. “Heheh, Yuihan…I never knew there were five of you…”

“Jeez.” Yui sighed. This was partly her fault for not reading the label so she shouldn’t complain to much. She held on to the squirming Jurina to keep her from falling to the ground. “We should really get you some water. Or food. Come with me to the kitchen.”

Yui tried to lead the drunken girl towards the kitchen. “Come on.” She wrapped on of Jurina’s arms around her shoulder and started to walk which wasn’t that easy with someone trying to pull her down. “Don’t make me carry you.”

Jurina certainly wasn’t the lightest girl, though she would never admit to her weight being so high, but a combination of her height combined with her athletic body made for quite the burden on anyone who had ever tried to carry her.

Not that she cared at this moment, she wasn’t even aware what was going on.

“Food soundsch good…” Jurina slurred, and pushed herself slightly off Yui. “I can walk myshelf.” She promptly begun to do an interpretive dance of sorts, in the opposite direction of the kitchen. “Cafeteria nagereru music~" She sang, somehow still managing to stay extremely on tune despite being intoxicated - the training certainly had paid off…Until she tripped up again, fell down, and immediately decided that the floor was comfortable and fell asleep.

“I thought they were just chocolate!”

yuihan7-5:

Yui held onto Jurina to keep her vertical. Jurina was drunk. Yui had been given a box of chocolates from a fan earlier that day but wasn’t really in the mood for them and Jurina had offered to take them off her hands. What Yui hadn’t realized was that the chocolates were the kind filled with alcohol.

She had left the other girl alone for a little bit to put away some books and when she returned, Jurina was laughing to herself about something and pointing at the chocolates. That’s when Yui read the box.

“Jurina? I’m sorry. I really thought they were normal chocolate.” Yui apologized for the millionth time. She hugged Jurina close to her and swung her arm over her shoulder. “Let’s get you some water. Are you feeling okay?

Valentine’s Day Cooking!

“You can sort of it look at it this way - Akibastar is so big in the entertainment industry, it’s sort of like the universe’s Holllywood…There’s so much pressure to be perfect here. Everyone says to be yourself and dream big, just like in Hollywood, but if you do dare to dream big they’ll condemn you for it if you don’t meet their expectations.” Because 0048 was so big on Akibastar, there were even specific schools just for girls to learn how to become idols. Jurina herself had attended a normal school, but she could only imagine how fierce the competition would be like in those specialised ones.

Jurina almost started drooling at the word ‘feast’ again. If there was that much food there, she was sure she would want to just stay at the table and eat her way through the entire trip. The performance though…Jurina’s eyes lit up as she thought of something.

“Performance! Why don’t we perform? I’m sure that what we learned in 00 would impress them!”

Seika hummed. “A double edged sword, huh? That’s rough! Atamistar is rather relaxed - people will get annoyed if you’re too cocky, but it’s in a more concerned way, I guess, to make sure you don’t set yourself up for failure.”

“That sounds awesome! didn’t Jurina do a solo Oogoe Diamond once? You’d probably blow people away with that!” Seika certainly enjoyed being the centre of attention, and being able to show nay sayers off would be cool, and her family would probably be quite proud. Win-win all round!

“That sounds a lot better than what we have here,” Jurina muttered. Being cocky would get you completely torn up by your classmates - having a high skill level made it ‘being confident’. Not quite meeting those expectations meant you were 'cocky’. It really was a two-faced monster.

“Of course, Oogoe Diamond’s my signature song!” Jurina said, winking. The song had been widely known as the first AKB single that the original Jurina was the centre of, and as her successor Miyuki had tried her best to duplicate the amazingness of it. “You’d have to perform something solo too if I do though!”

Miichan winked to Sae and made the most common face that she ever had. She also changed the lenses in camera and got ready to take the prettiest shoot. Backstage image flipped behind Jurina’s back, and now it was the carpet of rose petals.

-Well, girls, episode two, Return of the King…sorry! - Miichan laughed. -In your position! Set!

Sae kneeled and took off her hat. “Juri….Is it ok if I call you that? Juri~…your beauty it makes my heart ache….I can’t even look at you.” Sae looks away shamefully and dramatically and takes Jurina’s hand delicately “Juri…If you could only let me a humble servant serve you…I could die happy.” Sae quickly stood to her feet and kissed Jurina’s forehead “My princess.”

Jurina could feel the flush rushing to her cheeks - she was positive her face was entirely red right now. She had never been in the position of the princess before - because of her height and how she looked, she was always cast to play the prince in school plays and dramas. It was…Really nice being treated like the princess for once.

She regained her composure, remembering it was a photo shoot.

“Of course, Sae-ch- Uhh, Sae-sama,” Jurina said, equally as dramatically while acting as best as she could. “Your princess will be yours, my prince.” Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at Miichan.

“How was that?”

karenthefourth:

It was a little of both, really; Tochi did her best to keep up with Jurina, but it was more like she was being dragged along. She just wasn’t as athletic as the older girl! Not for a lack of trying or anything, Tochi just… couldn’t get into sports all that much. At all. Still, she kept any protests to herself, if she had any, as in the end, the fact was that they were going to sneak out and have fun! And obviously Jurina knew just where to go.

As they passed through the shopping district, Tochi craned her neck to try to get a good look at some of the displays in the shops they passed by, but ultimately found it to be a lost cause. She wasn’t really sure why they were passing up all these other shops (didn’t they get an income of sorts?), but her friend apparently had something in mind, so…

When they finally stopped, Tochi had to blink a few times to make sure she was seeing things correctly; she didn’t have anything against thrift shops, but… what was special about this place that made Jurina want to take her here? Finally, the older girl explained, and it all made sense. “Oh! I get it now,” she exclaimed, nodding, “So you shop here alot?”

Jurina grinned. “All the time!” She pushed the door open with a flourish, hoping to surprise her friend.

The inside was nothing like the outside. Whilst the exterior made people look away from the shop by giving the feeling of being run-down, the inside was anything but that - in fact, it would give plenty of the designer stores they had passed by before a run for their money. Everything almost sparkled - the clothes were all lined up nicely on the racks, the displays were neat and professional, and there was an extremely wide range of clothing to choose from. The only thing missing was customers…The shop almost seemed like a ghost shop, save for a single clerk standing behind the desk who gave the two girls a bright smile. For some reason, she was wearing a maid outfit. Jurina waved to her, returning the smile.

“Hiya, Eri-chan!”

She once again grabbed hold of her friend’s hand, not waiting to see Tochi’s reaction to the bizzare contrast between interior and exterior or the maid, dragging her through until they reached a door which was locked shut.

“This section is locked for a reason - the clothing in here is super special and rare! I…think you’ll like it, To-Karen-chan! It’s not the kind of stuff you can find anywhere else!”

She pulled a key from her pocket and opened the door dramatically, revealing the inside.

Row by row, from ground to ceiling, there were AKB uniforms. From Uza to Beginner, River to Heavy Rotation, even the lesser known songs - if there was a costume for that particular song, it was there. They were organised by song and by member, each having their own little taste added in for extra effect.

“Ta-dah~!”
